Important Information

There is currently a toxic blue-green algae bloom present within the Hoofers area of Lake Mendota.  If small children are in the water keep them away from shore and all of the blooms.  Anyone in the water near hoofers or Memorial Union pier should be encouraged to take a thorough shower after exiting the water.  Hands should be scrupulously washed before anyone eats.  When users go home swimwear should be washed immediately and should be kept out of reach of other family members and pets. Also people should keep dogs out of the water in this area.
