A limited number of full and half-day (AM or PM) parking permits are available for some lots on campus. They can be purchased in person at one of the Transportation Services offices - see the Transportation Services Directory.

Reserved daily permit parking can be purchased up to a week ahead of time by completeing this online form or calling the Special Events Office at (608) 262-8683. Inquiries about visitor parking can be sent to visitor-parking@fpm.wisc.edu or to our main office location, attention: Special Events.

The University of Wisconsin – Madison encourages groups arriving to Campus by bus to plan ahead.  Designated bus parking is located on the west edge of Campus in Lot 131.

Bus parking is free of charge and the free Campus Bus routes make getting around on campus easy! Existing bus stops along main Campus streets can be utilized by buses for short term drop off and pick up of passengers. Stops are located within minutes of all Campus building locations.  

Organizations sponsoring large campus events, bringing more than 3 buses to campus should contact Transportation Services – Special Events (608) 262-8683.  We will provide assistance with your bus parking plan.

There are public meters in most parking lots on campus. Some of these meters have a 25-minute limit. To get 5-minutes FREE, turn the handle (or push the button) when the meter shows zero time and then insert additional coins if needed. On the UW campus, you may not "re-plug" a meter. You are limited when parking at a meter to the length of the time limit of the meter. See the Rates Policy for cost of meters. See the Lot Stall Information page for longer term meter locations or view the geographically organized list below.  Vehicles may not park at an inoperable meter.  Customers should move to the next metered stall and report the inoperable meter to UW Transportation Services at 263-6666, press option #2.  Have the broken meter number, lot number, and the problem with the meter.  For additional information, please see our Citation Policy.

A portion of the University employee parking lots have been set aside for public parking. In lots 7, 17, 20 and 83, booth attendants sell All-Day, AM or PM visitor parking permits on a space available basis upon entry into the lot. There are over thirty parking lots on campus that allow free parking 4:30pm to 7am Monday through Friday and all day on the weekend. However, a few lots may have additional time restrictions due to special events. See the Special Events Calendar page or the lot entrance signs for dates of these additional restrictions.
