Flex Parking

Flex Parking Program

Can you bike, bus, carpool, vanpool, or walk most of time? Flex Parking is for those few times when driving is necessary. Combine the alternatives that work best for you with infrequent driving (no more than twice a week) for a cleaner and healthier campus.

Flex Parking is a pay-as-you-use program - the less you park, the less you pay. Approximately 1,200 employees participate in the Flex Parking program.

Map of Flex Lots: 2009-2010 (began September 1, 2009)

All flex parking is Pay By Phone.

Flex Rates

You must display your flex parking permit any time you are parked in your lot (or after hours in another lot that allows any permit), however you need only call in and pay for flex parking from 7am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. If you arrive before 7am and wish to call in early, enter the full amount of time you will be parking from the time you arrive. The system will only charge you for the time after 7am. If you do not enter the full time your paid parking will expire too early and you may be cited.

Flex Parking has a single rate for all Flex lots. The prices are:

  • $.75 per hour
  • $3.00 per day minimum charge
  • $6.00 per day maximum charge

The $3.00 minimum charge includes four hours of parking. After four hours, flex parking is $.75 per hour up to the daily maximum charge of $6.00. If you park for a portion of an hour you will be charged for the entire hour.

The following chart shows parking costs for various hours parked.

Flex Parking Costs
Hours Parked Cost
4 or fewer $3.00
5 $3.75
6 $4.50
7 $5.25
8 or more $6.00
How to Apply for Flex Parking

2009-2010 Parking Year (Began 9/1/09)

  • Flex Customers: You may pick up your permit at Transportation Services Office, 610 Walnut St. Rm. 124 WARF after 11am the business day after you accept your flex parking assignment. Please register with Verrus as soon as you accept your Pay by Phone flex parking offer and bring your 10 digit Verrus account number (it is a phone number) with you when you pick up your permit. If you still have an old flex meter and/or Smartcards, you must return those materials (or pay a lost card fee/forfeit your meter deposit if lost) before you will receive your new permit.

You may register with Verrus by calling 1-866-234-PARK (7275) or online at www.verrus.com. You will need a credit card, the phone number you plan to pay for parking from and your license plate number when you register. If you register by phone but do not intend to park when you register, you may hang up when the system prompts you for a location number and your registration will be recorded without parking.
Returning In-Car Meters and SmartCards or Leaving the Flex Program

In order to get a refund of your meter deposit, you must return the following items together to any Transportation Service office.

  • Any meter in your possession (a fee will be assessed for lost meters)

  • If you are leaving the Flex program all together, please return your parking permit (hangtag or decal) and any gate cards you may have (only applicable in limited lots if you have a sticker instead of hangtag) as well. A parking cancellation form needs to be completed.
