Risk Group Lists

What is a risk group?  See page 3, Biohazard Recognition and Control (BRC).

The classification of pathogens provided in Appendix B of the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules is an accepted standard, even when recombinant DNA technology is not used.

A comprehensive risk group listing is available from the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA), compiled from agencies in the US and other countries.  Alphabetic lists for bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites:
