The following is a training sequence developed around the UW-Madison's Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control plan. This sequence should help employers and employees to ensure that their workplace is in compliance with the 1991 OSHA standard (a very helpful summary of this standard is available). Please be sure to have completed all facets of this Training section before proceeding to the Testing area. Completion of this training section should take up to 50 minutes.
Before beginning the training, you must first review the UW-Madison's Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan and what bloodborne pathogens are.
This training sequence can in no way replace the written Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan that must be maintained by all employers in which exposure to bloodborne pathogens may occur. All employers must maintain a copy of the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan. The information on this document should be reviewed and updated annually. Additional control plans should be created for each program within the same laboratory/work site. A Rich Text Format version of the Control Plan is available for download (Rich Text Format or rtf is readable by most any word processing application regardless of operating system).
